Coffman Racing Wins the 2016 Seed 9 Rally

The Seed 9 Rally takes place in Jean, Nevada on November 5th, the weekend following the SEMA show in Las Vegas.  After winning the Seed 9 event last year, the team returned again this year to defend its title. The rally consists of six stages, four during the day, and two at night. There is only one service between stages four and five, so the driver and co-driver are on their own for the majority of the race.

While the team has been primarily focused on drifting for the past three years, the Seed 9 Rally would be Coffman Racing's second rally event for the 2016 calendar year.  Matt and his co-driver, Blake Lind, took the rally by force, leaving drivers that rally full-time in the dust.  Both the car and the driving were absolutely flawless, and by the time the car came in for service, Matt had already created a huge time advantage over his competitors.  The team filled the car with gas, quickly swapped a bushing that was showing signs of fatigue and sent the car back out for the final two stages.

Those final stages were rough, but Matt and Blake made it through without any incidents. Unfortunately, one of the competitors rolled his Fiesta, but luckily everyone made it out uninjured.  The teams regrouped at the end of the rally, and after leading every stage and finishing more than a minute overall faster than the rest of the competition, Coffman Racing was awarded first place for the second year in a row.

We look forward to spending more time in the rally car in 2017 and we appreciate your continued support.
